だるま（Daruma）
だるまは縁起のいい置物として、昔から多くの人に愛用されています。
だるまは達磨大師という人がモデルになっています。達磨大師は9年間もの間、壁に向かって坐禅を行い、手足が腐ってしまったという伝説をもつ禅宗の祖師です。
達磨大師は、自分の行いの責任をしっかりととり、忍耐強くいるようにと説きました。
だるまには自分ができることから取り組み、毎日の中で誠心誠意を尽くすことで、願い事や目標の達成に近づくことができるという意味が込められているのです。
また、だるまには魔よけの効果があると信じられ、病気に罹らないためのお守りでもあります。
